which part of the site you wish to browse through - the Leather-Mistress.com.
I want to see one item, what do I do when I see it on a
category page?
Click on the thumbnail to open the individual page with
a larger picture and a fuller description.
I've found what I want, how do I order?
Scroll down the page until you see some menu boxes.
Insert the number of items you wish to order in the first box to the left of the
item's menu box. Then select the size required, if required.
Then click on the "BUY" button
What happens next?
The page will "Refresh" by jumping slightly.
This is the calculation taking place and the page using "cookies" to
store your order for use later when you go to the checkout.
OK! I've done that. What do I do next?
Providing that the item you require is shown correctly
in the Shopping Cart boxes at the bottom of the page (if not either clear the

Have you got "Cookies" disabled? The shopping cart uses cookies
to calculate costs and remember details of purchases etc to send to Multicards.
Some Web sites store information in a small text file, called a
"cookie," on your hard disk.
Cookies contain information about you and your preferences. For example,
if you inquire about a flight schedule at an airline's Web site, the site might
create a cookie that contains your itinerary. It might only contain a record
of which pages within the site you visited, to help the site customize the view
for you the next time you visit.
Only the information that you provide, or the choices you make while
visiting a Web site, can be stored in a cookie. For example, the site cannot
determine your e-mail name unless you choose to type it. Allowing a Web site to
create a cookie does not give that or any other site access to the rest of your
computer, and only the site that created the cookie can read it.
Internet Explorer is set up to allow the creation of cookies; however, you
can specify that you be prompted before a site puts a cookie on your hard disk,
so you can choose to allow or disallow the cookie; or you can prevent Internet
Explorer from accepting any cookies.
You can specify different settings for different security zones. For
example, you might want to allow Web sites to create cookies if they are in your
Trusted sites or Local intranet zone, prompt you before creating cookies if they
are in your Internet zone, and never allow cookies if they are in your
Restricted sites zone.
I assume you are using a form of Windows.
To check whether your Cookies are disabled go to
Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet
options.
(You can also get to this point in Internet Explorer by using the
"Tools" option on the taskbar and selecting internet options from the
drop down menu)
Choose the second tab along "Security"
and select the button at the bottom that says "Custom Level".
You then have a list of options to scroll down, go to the one that is
titled "Cookies" and make sure the small circle named
"Enabled" is marked in both the per session and storage sections.
Finally Click "OK"

We do not use Paypal; only credit card payment
through our web site's secure processor or cheques drawn on United Kingdom bank
accounts.
Paypal! AARGH!. They will quite happily take your money but will not send it to
us because Paypal have
decided not to transfer any money for anyone that they believe are paying for
anything that they consider to be "adult" products, which includes
items that we stock. So, if you are buying or selling through an auction
and they decide to retain your cash you will have difficulty securing a refund.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Check out the following link, we are not the only ones who do not trust them or to have problems with
them, hundreds of others are in the same boat.

http://www.paypalwarning.com/AboutUs/Default.htm

I personally know people who have problems with these scoundrels, had their
money confiscated, seems they are a law to themselves. They will take your money
but won't allow us to access them to make any refunds so they have your cash
which will take you a long time to get back.

How
safe is using my Credit Card on the net?
Many people worry
about using their credit card on-line, but when you learn the facts of on-line
commerce, you will realize there is little to fear. This page answers
some of the most common on-line credit card usage questions.
"People can
pick up my Credit Card number as it travels across the net."
Many people fear
eavesdroppers will capture their credit card number as it travels across the
internet. Actually, there is a much, much, greater chance of someone copying
your number when you use your card at a store or whenever you give your number
over the telephone. Some facts about internet safety:
- "Tapping"
info off the internet requires some serious hardware, specialized
software, and a wealth of knowledge, whereas tapping voice communication
on your telephone can be done easily by anyone with $3 worth of parts from
Radio Shack and a little knowledge..
- Most on-line
businesses, including us, use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for
their credit card processing. This means your number is scrambled on your
own computer before it is sent out, and is un-scrambled only at the
destination computer, which in our case isn't us, it is the credit card
processing company. In theory, this encryption can be broken, but it
takes thousands of computers running for thousands of hours to do
so. This would be too expensive to justify decrypting your number.
- As far as we
know there has never been one
single documented instance of credit card fraud originating from
credit card numbers tapped off the net. Please let me know if you hear of
a case.
- If a business
were to take advantage of your number and make unauthorized charges on it,
you can make a chargeback, which is described below.
"You can
charge me too much / twice / e.t.c."
Unauthorized charges
could be made by anybody who has taken your number, such as shop clerks, mail
order firms, and so forth. What keeps them from doing this is the
chargeback security built into the credit card system itself. For any
credit card transaction, the burden of proof that the purchase ever took place
is on the merchant and not on the customer. Such proof would include a piece
of paper with your
signature on it. But when you order on-line, you never use your
signature! This means, that the merchant really doesn't have any solid
proof of your purchase or order. Hence the reason we send every item by EMS
(Express Mail Services) or UPS (United Parcel Services) so that we can ensure
delivery to you, our customer, and obtain a signature to prove receipt. It is
difficult to prove you did not order the goods if you have signed the
acceptance note.
So if you find an
unauthorized charge to your credit card, you can always contact your credit
card company and ask for a chargeback. Especially in the case where you have not
used your signature, there is a "no-questions-asked" policy in most
credit card companies. The money is withheld from the merchant, and the burden
of proof is now on him, that you indeed made the purchase.
This means, of
course, that if you were unscrupulous, you could abuse the system and buy
things on-line and routinely ask for a chargeback. The risk in on-line
ordering is with the Merchant, NOT with the customer. To prevent the type of
fraud where the card holder purchases goods or services, them claims he didn't
order so wants his money refunded, we have to implement checks from our point
of view. Our credit card processing company make some of their checks before
we even know that you have ordered. They make further checks over the next two
days after we receive the order. We do not ship orders until we are certain
that your order is genuine.
"You can
take my credit card number and give away / sell / e.t.c."
We NEVER see your credit card number.
When you order from us, the number is sent in an encrypted format to our on-line credit card
processing company called Multicards ( http://www.multicards.com/)
The ordering web-page is on their server. The only thing we get from
them is a confirmation of the payment, and a shipping address, email, and so
forth of the person ordering. Multicards is the only facility holding your
card number, and since Multicards is in the business of processing card numbers
for many on-line vendors, it would heavily damage its reputation if it were to
use your card number for unauthorized activates.
Conclusion
We at
Leather-Mistress.com have had many customers who emailed or telephoned us
to order our products because they are afraid to order on-line. On only one
occasion have we processed a credit card order for a customer who didn't have
access to a computer. Our standard reply to people who offer to give us their
credit card numbers is "never, ever, send your details in an unsecured
email" especially as we do not want to be held responsible for any fraud.
I hope this page will help you better understand how on-line ordering is not
only safe, but is actually
safer
than other ordering methods.
Happy shopping,
feel safe dealing with us.
